Lame Epic characters (color version)

Here's what happens If you don't organize your folders, You will never find your good works..ever. So I learned my lesson but I have to keep learning at least for the next 2 weeks. Because I'm still looking for the rest of good stuff I lost.
Anyway, I found the color version of the Lame Epic characters I designed last year.

Bridge Layout

Few months ago I was involved with a collaborative project as a layout artist. (which is not my strong suit) But after working for couple of weeks I got something good out of it. It was fun.

Super Cats

A few months ago I designed couple of characters for Super Cats t-shirt. They're evil but they're kinda cute.

You can click HERE to see what they look like on T-shirts, bags and walls...

Odd Couples T-shirt Contest

Couple months ago, I made a t-shirt design for Threadless website contest called Odd couples. I was gonna share the sketches of it on my blog but I never had a time to do that and then I forgot about it.
now here it is.

Howard Stern Cartoon

Sometimes when you listen to something too much, you want to do something about it. Howard Stern's radio show is one of them. Actually It can be a good idea for T-shirts, bags, flags and stuff. I guess Howard's impact was pretty intense.

The Cute Exorcist

I was gonna make this illustration for one of the contests on Threadless website. But I thought I could be too creepy to put it on T-shirts. However I think some of you might watched the movie The Exorcist before and you may be interested to see the cartoon version of it.

Dogfish

I made a couple of drawings of amazing fish in the aquarium of Academy of Science which lead me to this funny looking called Alligator fish. The interesting part about that fish was it didn't look anything like a alligator. It looked more like a cartoony dog fish. So I came up with this dog fish concepts.

Then I narrowed it down to these drawings to make it more like a dog.

Father's Day Painting

I know we have already passed the father's day but I made this painting in that day to honor my father and his dedication. But I was so busy with thesis that I couldn't post it on my blog. (However I sent it to my father on that day.) This week I have a chance to work on blog a little bit.

Creature Design concepts and turn around

Since I got with busy with making my cartoon "The Grrreat Death" I couldn't keep up with my blog posts. Actually I didn't have time to scan my drawings and put them together for the blog. But I believe it's important to put my personal works and my film in balance. I found these concepts I did for creature design by combining animals I drew in Oakland zoo.

..and here is the turn around of the final design.

My Jurassic Park 3D experience

It's been a while I haven't seen the movie Jurassic park. I was in the third grade when I saw the movie for the first time on VHS. Yeah.. I couldn't see it on a big screen. I never had a chance to see it in theaters. You know I'm always against putting classic movies back on theater for 3D stuff. But now I can see why. Boy.. it was incredible...Even Tim's old jokes on a tree were still funny. (Even though they were not)

The old man's childhood picture (The Grrreat Death)

After presenting my film to the reviewers from school, Coco suggested it's better to have the old man's childhood picture next to his mother which was brilliant. I think it would be better if he picks his nose in his studio picture with his lovely mother.
Anyway, I updated the mother picture here.
Isn't he adorable..?

The Midpoint has been passed

Ohhh boy..It's been a long time I haven't sent anything in my blog. Geez...Sooo busy making portfolio, films, tv shows, illustration... But today I couldn't leave my blog alone in dust. Because last week I had my midpoint review with good reviewers Sherrie, Coco and Nick from Academy of Art University. I was so excited that I could even remember what I was doing. But I made everybody laugh and interested. Then I started sweating..God...I was on fire. I passed the test...
Anyway, you can see what happened in these drawings.

The Grrreat Death: New Edition (Characters)

It's been months that I haven't touched my short film The Grrreat Death since I started working on my other projects. When I watched it again, I realized it doesn't look good anymore. It can be way better. So I went back to the drawing board. Anyway, may I introduce my redesigned characters: The Reaper and The Old Man. Here are their Thumbnails and Model sheets with their friendly portrait.

Valentine's Day (Sad Edition)

Remember I said "I'll explain to you on my next post about the edition stuff." Now this thing makes sense. Apparently not all the people had a great time on Valentine's day. Here's another Valentine's day card I made this time for the dark side of the love bird's day including me.. (Don't ask..!). I know it's really graphic looking. Sorry if it's hurtful in some way to some people.I hope this won't happen next time.

Valentine's Day (Happy Edition)

I know you wonder why it's called Happy edition..? This post is for the people who had a great time on Valentine's day and DID NOT get dumped or stood up or heart broken,... etc.. Anyway this is the Valentine's day card I made last year. But I thought it's better to show you the process of it as well. Happy Valentine's day everyone. Don't get dumped..

Super Bowl..YEAAA..(cough)..(cough)..

Since San Francisco has become my new home, It's harsh not to do anything for 49ers. Especially when they got to the final. Everybody should be happy for the team. It's Super Bowl for crying out loud..!

Improv Painting...

I have to mention something about the title. By the word Improv I meant Improvisation but I don't why I love the word Improv.  Maybe it's shorter. Or It might be from Improv comedy club.. I dunno.. Anyway..I did play around with my painting again and it turned out something like this which is not as strong as the previous ones.

New Year Card (Concepts)

To me, The most interesting part of the creation of an Artwork is the process of that creation. That's why I always love behind the scenes more than a movie itself. "How did you do it..?" has been always my first question to artists. So I think this interest now has turned its influence on my works. I remembered I didn't post the concepts of the New Year illustration on my blog. So here they are...Don't mind the mermaid. It was drawn for something else.

Working on another Conan art

It's been a while I haven't done anything for CONAN. I thought maybe it's cool to do it again to let him know that I believe he's still funny with Andy. Here's the behind the scene snap shot of my latest Conan work.

Apocalypse Day

I was sorting my files yesterday and I found my mayan cartoon I made for the apocalypse day (Dec. 21, 2012). I posted it on my facebook page exactly on that day but I forgot to post it on my blog. But here it is
If you are interested in the process of making it, here are the sketches. I spent 80% of my time only on the characters. Because they are the main focus of the illustration and they should be a little funny. A good design never comes out on the first sketch. You have to draw it until you're happy with it. If you don't like your artwork, Nobody will...
